Love & Heartbreak songs

Do you know these times, when you listen to a song and all of a sudden, it takes a whole different meaning to you?

These are some of my favorite love and heartbreak songs in Spanish. Our own language has sometimes an exact word for some feelings that another language can’t explain. Some touch your heart with their words…for those songs I can’t really translate to English, for those that really would not mean the same with other words…for those who ask you to close your eyes, to feel…I really wish I could explain to you the way they make me feel.

Until then, close your eyes, and if you still can’t feel it, watch these videos (funny how most are black and white videos…) and let me know how they make you feel.

Café Tacvba – Eres (you’re)

Toni Zenet – Soñar Contigo (dreaming of you)

Bebe – Siempre me quedará (I will always keep)

Marea – Corazón de Mimbre (heart of wicker)

Catchy, right?

Esmeralda Grao – Exactamente igual que tú (exactly like you)

I mean, listen to that magical voice!

Shakira – No

Disappointing love and Blame Game – «No, no intentes disculparte, no juegues a insistir. Las excusas ya existían antes de tí».

When Shakira actually did something we could call music.

Diana Navarro – Mira lo que te has perdío (This is what you’re missing out)

Happiness in releasing yourself from someone who’s not worth your love – «Pa ti mis tardes perdidas de llantos, heridas y dudas».

She’s also got a song about being «The Other» here

Shakira – Hay amores (there are loves)

What is your favorite one? Is it because of the meaning or because of its sound?

  1. Siempre me quedará is one of my all time favorites! Thanks for all the recommendations, I will give them a listen. :-)
